Care instructions for duvets

When properly cared for, your Familon duvet will remain fluffy and airy long into the future.

Familon duvets are safe and do not require washing before use. We recommend airing the duvet weekly to keep it fresh. Leave your bed uncovered for a while to air it after sleep, to allow any moisture absorbed into the bedding to evaporate. Product-specific care instructions are given on the product label.

Washing and care instructions for the duvet

Most Familon duvets are easy-care with a polyester fibre filling. Fluff the fibre-filled duvet up lightly every morning when making the bed to keep it fluffy.

Machine wash the duvet twice a year at 60 °C and select a low spin speed (max. 800 rpm). Use only one-third of the standard amount of liquid detergent. Wash the duvet in a machine with a capacity of at least 8 kg, one duvet at a time.

After washing, stretch the duvet into shape while wet and ensure that the filling is distributed evenly. Select a low heat setting for tumble drying. You can also allow the duvet to dry on its own in an airy place, on a line or on a level surface. Fluff the duvet up while it is drying.

Washing and care instructions for a down duvet

Fluff the down duvet up lightly every morning when making the bed to keep it fluffy. Store your down duvets clean, in a dry, spacious and well-ventilated place to keep the down fluffy.

Machine-wash the down duvet at 60 °C, use only one-third of the standard amount of liquid detergent. If you wish, you can choose a gentle special shampoo developed specifically for down products. Wool detergent is also suitable for down products. Remember to use an enzyme-free detergent that preserves the natural fat in the down and feathers.

Let the down duvet dry in a well-ventilated place and fluff it up while it dries. Tumble drying is an excellent way to make the down duvet more fluffy, and it significantly shortens drying time. Select a low heat setting for tumble drying. Place a couple of tennis balls in the tumble dryer, and stop the dryer from time to time and give the product a good shake before you continue drying. This keeps the filling fluffy and allows the duvet to dry evenly. Continue drying until the duvet is completely dry with a fresh smell.
