Care instructions for your pillow

Proper care of your Familon pillow will keep it fluffy and airy long into the future.

Familon pillows are safe and do not require washing before use. We recommend airing the pillow weekly to keep it fresh. Leave your bed uncovered for a while to air it after sleep, to allow any moisture absorbed into the bedding to evaporate. Product-specific care instructions are given on the product label of the pillow.

A pillow cover that keeps your pillow clean for longer makes pillow care easier.

Clean and fresh dreams, inspired by northern nature.

Washing and care instructions for pillows

Most Familon pillows are easy to care for, with a polyester fibre filling. Fluff a ball-fibre-filled pillow up regularly to keep it plush and airy for a long time.

Machine wash the fibre-filled pillow twice a year at 60 °C and select a very low spin speed (max. 800 rpm) to keep the filling even. Use only one-third of the standard amount of liquid detergent.

Dry the pillow in a tumble dryer at a low heat setting or allow to dry in an airy place, for example on a drying rack. Fluff the pillow up while drying and continue drying until the pillow is completely dry.

Washing and care instructions for down pillows

Fluff the down pillow up regularly to keep it plush and airy. Store your down pillow clean, in a dry, spacious and well-ventilated place to keep the down fluffy.

Machine wash the down pillow twice a year at 60 °C and select a very low spin speed (max. 800 rpm) to keep the filling even. Use only one-third of the standard amount of liquid detergent. If you wish, you can choose a gentle special detergent developed specifically for down products. A wool detergent is also suitable for down. Remember to use an enzyme-free detergent that preserves the natural fat in the down and feathers.

Fluff the down pillow up after washing. Tumble drying is an excellent way to make the down pillow more fluffy, and it significantly shortens drying time. Select a low heat setting for tumble drying. Place a couple of tennis balls in the tumble dryer, and stop the dryer from time to time and give the product a good shake before you continue drying. This keeps the filling fluffy and allows the pillow to dry evenly. Continue drying until the pillow is completely dry with a fresh smell.

Care instructions for a foam pillow

Pillows with special foam filling of viscoelastic polyurethane that adjusts to body heat and weight, are not washable. However, the knit cover of the pillows is washable according to the instructions given on the label.

Take care of the foam filling by airing and vacuuming it gently. To prevent damage to the cellular structure, do not beat the filling. It is not advisable to air the pillow filled with memory foam outside in a cold temperature, because the filling that reacts to heat will harden and may be damaged. The pillow will soften at room temperature.
